About UsYork Raceway has been hosting drag racing since the '70s. What's drag racing in 12 words? A 1/4-mile sprint race, from a standing start between two cars. Simple, but it gets more interesting as it gets more complex. Soon it's all about power, control and reaction. And before you know, it can be taking control of you. At York, spectators become participants and participants become racers...! York Raceway has good access, ample parking and is one of only three permanent drag strip facilities in the UK. It is equipped with world-class TSI timing equipment, which gives you a printout from each run, with your reaction time, 60', 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile times and speeds to 1/100mph and 1/1000second. York has a great, friendly atmosphere and a reputation for efficiently run events and a weather profile similar to Brighton's! From rodders to modders or classics, we run a number of series to provide for all to race or RWYB. The Northern Drag Racing Championship is the bracket (ie handicap racing) series, the Hot Rod Challenge series for 'heads up' racing, plus the American Super Stock series and the 2NZ series for tuners and modifiers. There's something there for everyone, spectators and racers alike, hit the 'What's on' button for more, or go to events. How to get there York Raceway is east of York, on the old Melbourne airfield, near Seaton Ross. It's a signposted 12-mile country drive from junction 37 off of the M62. Series logos There is a logo for each series, which you can down load here, so you can get your local vinyl cutter to do some graphics for your car You can have just a little one on the rear window, or turn it into big groovy graphics floating down the side of your car - it's not mandatory, but you might like to!
Please note that we mustn't allow any cans, bottles etc to stray (or be thrown!!) into the grass (there's plenty of bins around anyhow). We need to camp in the 'mown zones' and not drive cars through fields too! Barbeques are fine, but not camp fires. This really is important, we don't want to loose the camping, but it also jeopardises the future of York Raceway.
